Introduction: Mental Illness and Mental Wellness

Thank you for visiting my blog.

If you are here, there's a good chance that you or somebody close to you is fighting as hard as they can against mental illness.

You're in the right place.

Having experienced all stages of mental illness, myself, from mild to crisis to recovery, I understand a little bit about what you, or the person you are supporting, are going through. I want to be able to give you tools, support and advice to best equip you to get through this dark period. I want you to know that you are not in this alone, that there is help out there. I need you to know that you will come out of this the other side.

Once you've seen one person with a mental illness you've seen one person with a mental illness

That is to say, no two people are affected in exactly the same way by mental illness.

Why?

The people are different
The environments are different
The experiences that led to the illness are different
The biological factors which led to the illness are different
The support networks are different
The illnesses are different
The severity of the illnesses are different

So, I won't have all of the answers, but I can lend you my experience and the knowledge I have gained from this to give you practical suggestions to help you in your recovery from mental illness.

The blog will signpost you to resources and services that I have found helpful in my own recovery and I will also be researching tools on your behalf, so you don't have to.

I am going to try and make my posts easy-to-read and relatively short as I know that concentration, attention, motivation and fatigue can be really difficult when experiencing mental illness. However, I will also aim for them to be as informative and as helpful as possible, to as many people as possible.
